The “Green Patent” Program enters its third phase including PCT applications
The Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO) through Resolution 131/2014, published on April 15, 2014, has expanded the “Green Patent” Pilot Program, launched in April 2012, aimed at expediting the examination of patent applications covering green inventions.
In this recently launched third phase of the “Green Patent” Pilot Program, PCT National phase applications can also participate. The request for entering the pilot program must be filed before April 16, 2015 and only 500 patent applications will be accepted for the program, taken in chronological order.
With this initiative, the BPTO aims at identifying new technologies that can be readily used by society, stimulating their licensing and encouraging innovation within Brazil.
If the provisions apply to any of your Brazilian patent applications and you have an interest in taking advantage of the program, please contact us.
