Changes in PTO’s official fees
According to Executive Order 148-2014, published in the Official Gazette on May 16th, 2014, new official fees have been approved by the local PTO and are in force since May 17th, 2014.
The official fees for the registry of national or foreign designations of origin and geographic indications has decreased 66%, while the modification of the registry has decreased 50%.
Official fees have been introduced for the publication of trademarks, trade names and denominative signs or expressions, in the IP Registry Official Gazette.
Additionally, international official fees for PCT implementation have been introduced. These include transmittal fees, restoration of priority rights forapplicationsin the international stage filed outside the priority period and restoration of rights for applications in the national stage filed outside the 30-month period.
Finally, professional fees for services carried out by the PTO such as certificate issuances or annuity payments have been increased 400%.
