Changes in regulations for domains registration
On October 21st, NIC Chile introduced a new Regulation for .CL and a set of new policies, in order to conform to the practices adopted by the global industry. These recent policies, which will take effect from December 21st, introduce changes regarding the service of domain name registration and dispute resolution.
Among the most significant changes, the elimination of the application in “process” stands out. The requested domain will be registered after having been requested and paid the appropriate fee. After that, NIC Chile will publish the registration and will enable the operation of the registered domain.
The “oppositions”will also be eliminated, and requests for “revocation” must be submitted within the first 30 days of registeredthe domain, stating “apreferential interest or a better right”. After the aforementioned period, the request for “revocation” of the claimed will have to prove that is an abusive registration or was made in bad faith.
Finally, the mediation step will be eliminated. The conflicts that may arise at the time of the revocation of a domain name .CL will be processedand resolve in accordance with the Arbitration Procedure.
