Chilean Patent Office publishes new guidelines for registration of patent applications.
In November 2013, the Chilean Patent Office published the Guidelines on the Examination and Registration Procedure of Patents Applications. The objective of this publication is making even more transparent the internal process of the INAPI, applied to the processing of patent, utility model, industrial design and industrial drawing applications.
The guidelines regarding the registration procedure aimed to expedite the registration procedure; while legal certainty is afforded to the inventors, their legal representatives and people in general. This document addresses the processing of patent, utility model, industrial design and industrial drawing applications from two perspectives: the first one, referred to the practical and adjective aspects of the filing and processing of the applications; and the second one related to the patentability examination process.
It is important to highlight, that patent office has given the opportunity to everyone to present their comments and opinions regarding this matter; which were considerer by INAPI and in same cases included in the published document.
