Cooperation of EPO with Ibero America
On March 16, 2016, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) and the European Patent Office (EPO) signed a new work plan for the cooperation with Ibero America during 2016-2017.
The cooperation is mainly aimed at:
- Developing Ibero-American patent systems to boost innovation-based economies.
- Improving the quality and efficiency of patent search and examination in Ibero-American countries.
- Facilitating access to patent information in the region.
In order to achieve these objectives, the following activities are planned: seminars for judges and attorneys, training for patent examiners, seminars for patent office staff and experts in IP, and continued support for existing IP projects in the region, such as the Ibero-American Patent Database LATIPAT or the IP Ibero-American Program (IBEPI www.ibepi.org).
