Sales of products without authorization in Punta del Este

The National Customs Agency performed different operations with the objective to stop the sale of unauthorized merchandise in the city of Punta Del Este.

According to the authorities of Maldonado District nowadays, there are 500 registered street sellers for accessories and clothes. Because of the charisma and popularity of José “Pepé” Mujíca; several of these sellers commercialize in different areas of Punta del Este, products with the image of the president of Uruguay. In some products there are references to the new regulation of the marihuana sale or typical phrases that were said by Mujíca.

Some of the street sellers do not have proper authorization and/or correspondent documentation (such as certificate of good conduct, or voucher of the import of the products). The authorities seized the infringing merchandise of these sellers once they discovered them.
