Hong Kong and Mexico strengthen cooperation links in the IP field
On February 5, 2015, the Mexican Industrial Property Institute (IMPI) and the Hong Kong Industrial Property Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in order to promote good practices and information exchange in the IP field.
“The agreement is aimed at increasing the exchange of experts, staff training and technology transfer, allowing to monitor and speed up trademark registration”, said Miguel Angel Margáin, Director General of IMPI.
This MOU provides the framework for cooperation between Mexico and Hong Kong in the IP field regarding good practices and technical information exchange, training of business communities, promotion of IP exchange and exploitation, and organizing IP training programs, seminars and events.
“With these type of agreements the legal protection of patents and trademarks will increase and the fight against illegal business practices will be strengthened”, said Ada Leung, Director General of Intellectual Property of the Government of Hong Kong.
