ICAAN 53 meeting to be held in Argentina
Buenos Aires will host the upcoming Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) meeting from June 21-25, 2015.
ICANN is a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with participants from all over the world dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable. ICAAN develops policy on the Internet’s unique identifiers and much of its work is related to the Internet’s global Domain Name System(DNS), including the introduction of new generic top-level domains.
At each ICANN meeting, which are held three times a year in different regions, a broad range of Internet-related topics are discussed.
The next ICAAN 53 meeting will be organized by the Network Information Center Argentina (NIC Argentina), an organization dependent on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, which is responsible for operating the .ar country code top-level domain.
This is the third time that Buenos Aires has hosted one of ICAAN’s public meetings. The first meeting held in Buenos Aires was in 2005 and the second one was in 2013.
