Intellectual Property Registry celebrates its 12th Anniversary
On July 17, 2014, the Intellectual Property Registry of the National Center of Registries (CNR) celebrated its 12th Anniversary.
Among the improvements of the Intellectual Property Registry since its creation, it is worth mentioning its current 95% digital document support and the creation of the online services platform.
TheIntellectual Property Registry has enhanced its work specializing its knowledge about IP, signing several international treaties and connecting with other Centro American offices to harmonize criteria, with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
During the activities carried out to celebrate the anniversary,the agenda for the remainder of 2014 was announced. Among these events is the Sub regional Meeting of Centro American and Dominican Heads of Intellectual Property Offices to create Harmonization Guidelines for Trademark and Geographical Indication Registration Criteria.
Additionally, it was announced that in August, the second phase of a project to support distinctive signs related to the origin is taking place. By means of this project, and thanks to the support of WIPO, the Salvadorian Intellectual Property Registry is supporting the manufacturers of the Santa Maria de Ostuma pineapple, San Sebastian textiles and Ilobasco miniatures to protect their products as geographical indications and collective marks.
