PTO Launches a Search Engine of Public Domain Patents
The Chilean PTO (INAPI) has launched a new free-access database of all the patents filed before the PTO from 1840 until the present day which have already expired and consequently the protected technology has passed into the public domain. The patent search engine is available (only in Spanish) in the following URL: www.inapi.cl/dominiopublico.
The launch of this database by INAPI exemplifies a world milestone in the promotion of a balance between IP rights and public benefit by making available the technological knowledge of patents in a user-friendly, free manner.
Additionally to the database, INAPI provides complementary services through the search engine website, such us: public domain technology reports, interviews with Chilean innovators, documents and manuals.
