Trademark Office seeks efforts to ensure the uniform application of examination criteria.
According to Resolution Nr. 263/2011, the Trademark Department of the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office announced on January 28, 2011 the introduction of a Quality Management System for Trademark Examination (QMS).
This QMS includes an oversight committee composed of three members of the Trademark Directorate staff, whose most important goal is to ensure the uniform application of examination criteria, by implementing staff training programs.
Likewise the system should mainly help the examination of trademarks by:
- Identifying points on the procedures of trademarks analysis which need improvement
- Checking permanently the level of satisfaction of users with the Trademark system
- Assuring the harmonization of decision with the adoption of preventive measures to monitor the level of quality of the examination
- Compiling and analyzing data regarding the compliance with the quality levels of the service
